CORE Conference

Each year there are a number of conferences and seminars those in youth ministry may select from to attend so they may learn and grow in their area of ministry.  Once again this year, we had the opportunity to attend and review the CORE Conference from Youth Specialties.  'Round about the church would like to thank Nate Wagner for reviewing this conference for us.

I had the privilege of attending this exciting training opportunity for the fourth consecutive year.  CORE presents practical leadership training through a variety of methods with a fun, dynamic, and interactive workshop atmosphere.  My staff and I had a blast as we were encouraged, equipped, challenged, and renewed in our passion and vision for the teens within our ministry as well as the role we play in their lives.

This year was the final year of a three year cycle focusing on the nine Core Realities, the 10 Core Values, and six Core Skills of Youth Ministries.  You are able to start this cycle in any given year and once you have completed all three conferences you can become CORE Certified.  CORE offers a great balance between teaching basics in establishing an intentional philosophy of ministry, and practical skills necessary to be effective as a leader within your ministry.

While there are many Youth Ministry training opportunities available to you each year, CORE Conference is the highlight for me and my staff as the quality of training and relatively low cost make this a must for volunteers.  Whether you are early in your career and ministry as a youth leader or a veteran who has been at it a long time, the fresh insights and networking opportunities with others in the trenches combine to create a day you don't want to miss in 2005.
