resources for effective children's ministry
As the school year comes to an end, it is a terrific time to pause and thank your volunteers for serving over the past year. Consider planning a special teacher appreciation dinner and/or a teacher of the year celebration. If you decide to hold a teacher of the year celebration, you could select one special teacher to be your “teacher of the year” or, without letting them know, plan to honor all your teachers as your teachers of the year!
Two Months Before -
- select a date for your teacher of the year celebration - maybe a Sunday after church to an all church dinner or picnic
- begin to promote
- arrange for special music
- decide if you are going to present each teacher with a gift -
- - consider the book, “Heaven Sent” as a gift to present each teacher . . .
- take a special offering from adult classes if your church doesn’t have a budget for this
- prepare video with Ray Boltz song, “Thank You”
One Month Before -
- continue to promote
- hand deliver invitations with an RSVP
- pass around a food sign up list to adult classes
Day of -
- enjoy the meal/picnic
- show video
- thank volunteers
- enjoy special music
- present gifts
