Extraordinary Results from Ordinary Teachers - Learning to Teach as Jesus Taught
Author - Michael D. Warden
Publisher - Group Publishing

If you teach children, youth or adults I'm sure you want to be effective and while there are times we walk away from class having experienced an effective class, if we are honest, we would have to say there are times - possibly many times - when we are not effective.  I'm sure we would all agree that Jesus is the most effective teacher to ever walk on earth, so if we learned to teach as He did, it only follows that we would become much more effective in our teaching.  This book is an excellent tool to help you learn how Jesus taught and how you can incorporate that into your own teaching!

    favorite features:

  • begins with looking at common reasons we do not teach like Jesus taught
  • gives eight principles for teaching
  • "teacher's corner" throughout include excellent information and application helps
  • quotes throughout from leaders in christian education
  • examines how Jesus taught
  • encourages you to develop a written ministry goal
  • describes three types of students and objectives for each
  • reproducible worksheets
  • listing of Jesus' maxims, parables, discourses, debates, discussions & questions
  • cautions against using only lecture to teach
  • encourages you to use experiential learning
  • explains right and wrong questions

  •     I would recommend that this book be required reading for all teachers.  It is filled with information on how to teach like Jesus and become as effective teacher.  It matters so much that we are genuinely effective when we teach and this book will challenge, encourage and help equip teachers to be effective.  Extremely well done Michael and Group Publishing!

    Never Lick A Moving Blender!
    Author - Marvin Phillips
    Publisher - Howard Publishing
    Illustrator - Kristen Myers
Laughter is a gift from God - - - one many of us use too infrequently.  This resource uses humor to help us learn important lessons to "motivate and encourage" us in our walk with God.  I've said it before in previous issues and I am sure I'll say it again, but it is vitally important that pastors, teachers, helpers and parents spend time studying their Bible and reading good books to "motivate and encourage" them in their walk with God.  There are so many excellent resources available - this book is one of them.

        favorite features:

  • 25 chapters cover topics like attitude, disappointment, relationships, how to deal with criticism and stress
  • "Eight suggestions for a better world" in chapter 15
  • "10 things you can become that don't cost money, or take brains, but other folks need and will pay you more that they cost" - chapter 17
  • illustrations are humorous

  •     This book is one that will challenge you and encourage you as you read and apply what you learn to your day-in-day-out life.  Well done Marvin, Kristin and Howard Publishing!
