Recurting Lifeline

The 3rd Sunday of October is National Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Sunday.  This is a wonderful opportunity to show your appreciation to the people who volunteer to serve in your children's and youth ministry.  In past issues of "About the Children's Department" I've given ideas on ways to thank your volunteers, so in this issue I would like to encourage you to plan a special sunday where you show a video you made of teachers while someone sings the Ray Boltz song, "Thank you".  The book, "Thank You" (reviewed below) could be given as a gift to your church's teacher of the year - have everyone sign it to make it a special and personal gift.

Thank You
Author - Ray Boltz
Publisher - J. Countryman

The song, "Thank You" has touched us all over the past years and has been utilized in churches all over to thank Pastors, teachers, missionaries and others.  Now this song is part of a wonderful gift book by the same title and it would make an excellent gift for someone who has served in your church.

FAVORITE FEATURES:

  • includes the CD - "Thank You"
  • card included to allow church or class to sign and personalize
  • makes a lovely gift
  • stories, poems and verses add to charm
I believe it is very important to express our appreciation to our volunteers.  This book is a wonderful item to express that thanks.  Very nicely done Ray and J. Countryman!

    * Note on recruiting video song for this issue.

This song, while not particularly a "recruiting video" song, is in actuality a terrific recruiting song because as people in the church watch the video that shows teachers, ministering to kids of all ages, they will see that great things are happening in the children's and youth ministry and that the volunteers matter and are truly appreciated.  This carries a powerful message to potential volunteers.

This parable is a unique book and it's message would fit in real well with a recruiting drive!  It's message that we will find real joy when we "forever do what was placed in our heart, stamped on our soul, designed in our being - the thing we were meant for", is a message we all need to hear and be reminded of.

FAVORITE FEATURES:

  • excellent, needed message communicated in an unique way
  • illustrations are interesting and well done
I recommend this book as an excellent tool to utilize for recruiting volunteers.  God has placed His own gifts in each of us and when we utilize them for His glory, we will have joy and really live!  It can be so easy to get distracted by the cares and business of life so that we no longer use these gifts to serve.  This book communicates in a powerful way that it is never too late to begin to serve again!  Extremely well done Thom, Mary and Zondervan Publishing!

uses:  read in church as part of a sermon or to invite people to get involved
