resources for effective children's ministry

Kevin e-mailed a question about resources to help the teachers and even the parents learn how to lead a child to Christ.
The important thing to remember in leading pre-school children to Christ is that you answer their questions clearly and that you do not "lead" them in a prayer that they do not understand. I firmly believe that salvation is simple enough for a child, but I also know that children can make "decisions" to please adults, too. Some excellent resources to consider in how to lead a child to Christ would include the following:
- How to lead a child to Christ - Good Stuff to Know Teacher
training videos
Published by Gospel Light Publishing
$19.99
I really liked this video because it stresses how important
it is to speak clearly, for example, do not say, "ask Jesus
into your heart", we do not really have Jesus living in our
actual heart. Instead talk about what faith is and how
they could put their faith in Jesus.
- Pine Ridge Bible Camp has an excellent tract for children that
takes John 3:16 and explains it line by line. They made it in
conjunction with the Luis Palu crusades. It is available by
contacting them at:
Pine Ridge Bible Camp
8415 17 Mile Road
Cedar Springs, MI 49319
