Each year most people celebrate
Mother's Day, Father's Day and even Grandparent's Day, but how many of
us celebrate - or even know about - Children's Day? Children's Day
is the second Sunday in June and is a tremendous opportunity for parents
and churches to take a moment to celebrate and affirm the children God
has blessed them with! Churches may choose to celebrate children
by inviting children to sing in the service, show a video or power point
display of the things the children from the church have been involved in
in the past year - don't forget to include any new babies added to your
church in the past year! Pastors could teach about the value of children
and how parents and everyone in the church need to take time to bless the
children God has blessed us with - for ideas on this, see the resource
by Jack Hayford - Blessing Your Children - published by Regal.
Maybe you could even have cake or cookies between your church service and
Sunday School to celebrate the children - or have an all church picnic
after the service. Use your imagination and commit to take time to
let the children in your ministry know how thankful to God you are that
they are part of your church family!
Parents, you have a wonderful opportunity
on Children's Day to affirm your children and let them know how tremendously
thankful you are that God placed them in your family. Take time to
let them know something specific they did over the past year that you sincerely
appreciated and pray with them and for them. Remember, on Mother's
Day and Father's Day children usually present parents with a gift, so you
may want to consider presenting your child with a gift on Children's Day,
too! When our children were young, my husband Dave and I always took
advantage of Children's Day to celebrate with our children. Since
both of their birthdays were in January, we made a point of presenting
them with a small gift on Children's Day. Maybe you would like to
keep a journal that you add to each year on Children's Day and as your
children get older, allow them to add to the journal as well. Whatever
you do, take time this Children's Day and celebrate your children!

that teach the same spiritism as is presented in this movie. This
movie gives you the opportunity to talk with your child and to prepare
them with the truth of God's Word.
These Disney movies are tremendously well made
with attention to excellence in animation, story line and character development.
Some bring back familiar, loved "friends" while others introduce new characters.
All of them provide opportunities for parents to spend time with their
children enjoying a good story, laughing and learning important lessons.
