have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade youth group that consists of about 12-? whatever kids. When we first started the group, I had several kids that didn't want to pray for various reasons. Now, I give each child a cup of M&M's or Skittles and they pick out which
color they have the most of. If they have more orange then they pray for
a church member, more green... family member, more red... someone who has been
less than nice to them.
You would not believe the incredible results I have had with this. My whole youth group prays (outloud) and sincere prayers! I've had kids pray for a handicapped church member (whom he really didn't know very well), President Clinton (by a third grader who said that President Clinton had too many girlfriends), a second grader who prayed for her older brother who had been kicked out of school, the list goes on and on. But the results have been awesome. I now have kids that are brainstorming on things to pray about (the same kids who had told me they didn't have anything to pray about).
I am, to say the least, very happy!
Thank you again Jodey for the great idea!
