resources for effective youth ministry
Hello!
I would like to encourage churches to continue to support and encourage
the families in their church and community. If the church is effective
in encouraging and equipping the family both the church and the family
will be stronger because of it. It is so vital that we in the church
take seriously our role in helping to build strong families in our church
and community. There are a number of ways we can do this, build a
strong complement of parenting books in your library and provide these
resources for and encourage families to utilize them in understanding how
to have a strong family. Provide parenting classes - invite parents
from the community to participate in these classes. Put together
mentoring teams of parents who basically developed a strong family with
parents who want to develop a strong family and plan for opportunities
for these mentoring teams to get together. Plan family events so
the entire family will be able to grow together and have fun as well.
Continue a strong family ministry throughout the summer - do NOT stop sunday
school and mid week opportunities for children and youth during the summer,
but rather develop a particularly strong ministry during the summer - kids
and families are often looking for things to do during the summer so it
is the perfect opportunity for ministry to children, youth and families.
Provide opportunities for families to minister and serve together.
I am sure there are many more ideas for ministry to strengthen families
- these are just a few - but in this issue we will take a look at some
more excellent resources to build families.
We will also look at some more
Bibles as I am convinced if we as parents and teachers commit to spending
time in God's Word and encourage our children and students to do the same,
we will be changed people!
