resources for effective children's ministry

For
those of you who read this resource and live in the USA, the past months
have brought shocking reports of children killing children and teachers
in our public schools. The media have asked "why?" as I am sure all
of us have, and while the youth accused of these crimes may have their
own "reasons" for the choices they made - and there are many contributing
factors to these tragedies - I believe one of the forces behind it all
is that these young people didn't really believe it was too wrong for them
to do what they did because if they had then they wouldn't have pointed
their guns at other people and pulled the triggers. Our society teaches
relativism - we can each decide to do whatever we want and it is right
for us. We in the church need to commit to help equip our parents
to be able to teach their children the absolutes of Right from Wrong .
. . it is really the parent's responsibility - our role is to supplement
and reinforce that teaching, but the primary responsibility is the parents.
In this issue I am reviewing some tremendous resources from Josh McDowell
and I highly recommend every church take the month of September every year
to teach all ages from the Right from Wrong Campaign Resources. Set
aside your regular curriculum and make September a church wide Right from
wrong Month - the results will be tremendous!
In this issue
we will also look at a variety of excellent resources to supplement Summer
or anytime of the year ministries to kids. I would like to take a
moment to thank all of you who utilize this resource - the response over
the past 18 months has far exceeded our expectations and hopes! We
currently have had people from 36 countries come to our site and the e-mail
so many of you send encourages us to continue providing this resource for
churches and families around the world. Thank you again - you are
such an encouragement to me, I hope I am also able to encourage you in
your ministry as we all serve to glorify God in our families and churches!
Part of the purpose
for this resource is to let you know about many of the excellent resources
available to help you be effective in your Children's Ministry. each
issue we review a variety of resources - provided by various publishers.
I would like to thank the publishers for these resources and ask if you
try any of the items reviewed in "About the Children's Department" to please
send us a short e-mail to let us know how you liked them.
